8. Up - Melina Looking Fearsome
This trailer crammed quite a few characters in, but one of the most notable was this incredibly brief but completely disturbing shot of Mileena.
She is definitely a character fans are happy to see, as her unrestrained violence and frightening presentation have made her a favourite in the MK universe. It's safe to say that the movie is capturing her essence right off the bat.
The shot in question lasts barely even a second but shows the dual sai-wielding assassin in all her horrifying glory, as she takes one of said instruments and licks the blood off of it. This is very on-brand for the character and makes it seem like the movie truly understands the barbarism and violence that she is capable of.
Her look here makes the character appear almost demonic, with a blood-stained mouth and sharp jagged teeth. Of course, a few viewers might be disappointed to see her without a completely gaping mouth and long sharp teeth, but this alternative choice makes sense.
The slightly more restrained direction will allow the actor (Sisi Stringer) to emote far more, and it'll be an easier job for the VFX team. There is still plenty of potential to see her mouth become more extensive and animalistic as the film progresses, but this is a great start.
