9. Batman: Knightsend
In the Batman comic book Canon, Bane actually broke Batmans back in their first encounter, leaving Bruce Wayne crippled from the waist down; unable to walk and essentially unable to be the Batman. So he gives the mantle to another Jean Paul Valley, a.k.a Azrael to ensure that Gotham has a Batman. However, Valley goes a little mad with power so to speak, and when Bruce Wayne finally recovers from his injuries, he discovers that he may not be able to reclaim the mantle of Dark Knight as easily as hed hoped.
How It Could Work: Theres a simple way to make this story arc a reality while also adhering completely to Nolans continuity. The Dark Knight Rises ended on the idea that Bruce Wayne had potentially handed the Bat-mantle to Joseph Gordon-Levitts John Blake. Simply by replacing Jean Paul Valley with the new John Blake character, and having Bruce Wayne return to Gotham looking to become its protector once again, a screenwriter invites a conflict that would essentially be Batman vs. Batman. And that would be awesome.
Potential Issues: If Batman 4 is looking to align the Batman reboot franchise into something that can connect with a Justice League movie, Im not certain the humanised Nolan Batman will stand up next to the likes of Superman and Green Lantern. That said, this continuity would connect back to Nolans and theres nothing to say the next director cant just shift the tone anyway.
