20 Awesome Recent Horror Movies You Definitely Missed
9. Kombucha
If Office Space were a horror film, it'd probably turn out something like Kombucha - an insane horror-comedy about a promising tech startup which encourages its employees to drink the complimentary kombucha, which without giving too much away, has some interesting side effects.
A sledgehammer-subtle takedown of modern workplace grind culture, Kombucha evidently believes that allegory is for cowards, opting instead to scream its viewpoint loudly, proudly, and most of all grossly from the rooftops.
It goes without saying that filmmaker Jake Myers could've easily struggled to adapt his original 7-minute short film into a 90-minute feature, but per the sharp black comedy, tantalisingly queasy mystery, and strong performances from Claire McFadden and Terrence Carey,, it's an unforgettably weird ride from start to nauseating finish.
And better yet, Myers recently confirmed that a sequel is in the works, so get in on the ground floor before Kombucha becomes a most unexpected indie horror franchise.
