2. They Will Kill You
They Will Kill You had the misfortune of releasing just a week after Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, and with the marketing failing to sufficiently distinguish it from that similarly-themed horror-comedy, folks simply didn't turn up for it.
But this basically R-rated Looney Tunes movie is a low-key banger from Russian filmmaker Kirill Sokolov, who turned a lot of heads with his electrifying 2018 feature debut Why Don't You Just Die!
His latest film serves up a strong transition to Hollywood, the film starring Zazie Beetz as a housekeeper who discovers that the high-rise skyscraper where she works plays host to a Satanic cult.
The big frustration with this movie's release is that Warner Bros. probably should've spoiled the mid-film conceit which easily distinguishes it from Ready or Not, though for those already onboard with the film it certainly comes as quite a fun surprise, so we shan't give it away here.
All the same, They Will Kill You doubles down on energetic, kinetic, gory action sequences, coupled with a star turn from Beetz and spirited support from Patricia Arquette, Heather Graham, Tom Felton, and more.
