New Suicide Squad Story Details Reveal Joker's Role

Mr J loves Harley really, really bad.

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly is dedicated to Suicide Squad, with three covers featuring Task Force X and their master Amanda Waller, plus a raft of new details about the hotly anticipated supervillain ensemble.

Intriguingly, the issue confirms that the movie takes place after Batman v Superman, and that Waller assembles the team to deal with the next major alien attack threat (as if Slipknot and Captain Boomerang could do anything against Doomsday). She identifies her first target as June Moone - possessed by Enchantress of course - which is presumably why she was shown in the White House in the first trailer (a sort of show and tell situation by Waller?)

Inevitably, it takes a major supernatural event for Task Force X to be greenlit, with each member implanted with an explosive device to control them by Wayne Enterprises. Presumably, Slipknot forgets this fact (or doesn't believe it) when he makes a bid for freedom, and finds out the tough way.

A lot has been said about Batman's thirst for blood in Batman v Superman: clearly he's not against exploding bad guys' heads off their necks if they fail to comply. But then that's their decision, isn't it?

All of the Joker's scenes will also be present day and not just flashbacks:

"Throwing a wrench into all these plans is the tatted Gotham City arch-criminal, the Joker, and his laser-like plan to reunite with his true love, Harley, mission be damned."

It's interesting that Mr J is in love with Harley (by suggestion anyway), rather than her being besotted with him and him toying with her on some mad power trip. That marks a change in their dynamic.
