Next Bond Director: 8 Best & 4 Worst Directors To Replace Danny Boyle
3. Martin McDonagh
He might be a slightly more left-field choice, but Martin McDonagh would absolutely guarantee a great movie whether he managed to make something that felt like a recognisable Bond brand project or not.
He's great with characters, he knows how to spin genuine emotion and he can get stunning performances out of his lead actors. The fact that he took away so much from this year's Oscars might well convince the studio to consider him too, no matter how unconventional he might seem.
He knows action, thanks to Seven Psychopaths, he knows comedy (which has always been part of Bond, even if not a key cog in the machine) and he knows characters (thanks in part to his theatre work) and he definitely deserves this size of project sooner or later.
