Oscars 2018 Nominations: 18 Shocks & Snubs
13. Snub: Armie Hammer (Best Supporting Actor - Call Me By Your Name)
Armie Hammer gave one of the year's best performances in Call Me by Your Name, and while his co-star Timothee Chalamet was always going to scoop the lion's share of the film's awards attention, it's a damn shame Hammer didn't land a spot in the Best Supporting Actor line-up.
It's certainly arguable that he was more deserving than Richard Jenkins (The Shape of Water) and Christopher Plummer (All the Money in the World), though it's possible that their being significantly older than Hammer drove the Academy to throw nods their way, especially in the case of the 88-year-old Plummer and the special circumstances surrounding his role.
Hammer will hopefully be encouraged to seek out more artistic dramatic fare in the future, because he proved himself beyond any and all doubt in this splendid movie.
