Who Should Win

Dekalb Elementary

Based on an actual 911 call placed during a school shooting, Dekalb Elementary sees a gunman enter a school in Atlanta, Georgia and be confronted by an employee. It's an important and relevant short that takes an interesting approach to a very complex subject, and deftly handles the difficult story.

Who Will Win

Dekalb Elementary

The film is incredibly relevant, especially in the week of voting, and has already played well for festival juries, such as SXSW. It's an eclectic category and remains fairly open, but the poignancy and timeliness of the short should've appealed to voters.
