Other Nominees: A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood, The Goldfinch, The Irishman, Little Women, The Report, Us

It's a hard one to get a gauge on the Best Picture race so far out, but at this point the ones that feel most certain of a nomination are Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, The Irishman, Little Women, and The Goldfinch. All the others mentioned above come with a lot of caveats, and there are plenty of other candidates waiting in the wings: Cats, Queen & Slim, Harriet, The Personal History of David Copperfield, Fair and Balanced, The Farewell, Ford v Ferrari, Jojo Rabbit, Rocketman, and some that won't even be on the radar yet, all of which are difficult to get a proper feel for right now. But for the four mentioned first, even this far out, it'd be a surprise if they didn't make the cut.

It's even trickier picking a winner. Little Women and The Goldfinch both tick a lot of boxes, based on the predictions here, with screenplay and acting nods. Both should have some below-the-line nominations too, such as Production and Costume Design. The Irishman still feels a little bit too-good-to-be-true (or, well, good), and it's still Netflix. Tarantino, meanwhile, can be divisive, which may hurt with a preferential ballot.

It's got the edge, though, because it's a film about Hollywood. The Academy loves stories about itself, and if you add in the stellar cast, acting noms, screenplay and so on, it has all the ingredients of a Best Picture winner.

What do you think will win at next year's Oscars? Let us know down in the comments.
