Other Nominees: How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Missing Link, Toy Story 4, Weathering With You

Both How To Train Your Dragon movies have been nominated so far, Missing Link comes from Laika, Toy Story 4 is Toy Story, and Weathering With You is a Japanese animation from the director of Your Name. The others all seem like locks for a nomination, and the last should get in as they usually go for an international pick.

Ultimately, though, while there's a great chance Missing Link will be the best of these (Laika are GREAT), it feels like a battle between Toy Story 4 and Frozen 2. This award usually goes to Pixar or Disney, and since it didn't this year voters will likely return to type. Both films have previous here, with Toy Story 3 and Frozen past winners, but Frozen 2 just has the edge. Based on the teasers, it definitely looks by far the more impressive of the two, and given how much of Toy Story 3's strength came from being an ending, it might turn some people off the fourth instalment slightly.
