Oscars 2022: Final Predictions In Every Category
1. Best Picture
NOMINEES:
Belfast
CODA
Don't Look Up
Drive My Car
Dune
King Richard
Licorice Pizza
Nightmare Alley
The Power of the Dog
West Side Story
What Should Win: Licorice Pizza
Paul Thomas Anderson's offbeat dramedy was never going to garner enough support to win the Best Picture Oscar outright, so the nomination is really the win in this case, even if it's easy to argue that it's the most deftly crafted of the 10 films.
What Will Win: The Power of the Dog
Realistically it's a two-horse race between The Power of the Dog and CODA, with the latter unexpectedly securing the top prize at the Producers Guild of America Awards mere days ago.
That said, Jane Campion's western drama is still the odds-on favourite, which is probably for the best as a CODA victory will ensure the crowd-pleasing drama catches a ton of unearned vitriol and gets lumped in with other "undeserving" (but much worse) Best Picture winners like Crash and Green Book.
Assuming these predictions are correct - which, of course, they won't be - The Power of the Dog would walk away with three Oscars in total.
Though in pure numbers the big winner of the night would be Dune, taking home six awards in below-the-line categories.
