1. The Hollow Tribute To Stunt Performers
One of the night's most frustrating moments saw Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling take to the stage to present a montage tribute to stunt performers, leaving many to assume that the Academy was about to announce a long-requested award for Best Stunt Coordination.
But following the montage no such announcement happened, making it clear that the whole segment was really just a stealthy promotion for Blunt and Gosling's upcoming comedy-action film The Fall Guy.
For the Oscars to carve out a portion of time to demonstrate how important stunt teams are to the film industry, and yet not include them in their own list of awards is howlingly tone-deaf. Make it happen already, Academy.
