Peacemaker: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Suicide Squad TV Series

9. It Might Be A Prequel...And Sequel

The press release announcing that Peacemaker is officially in the works noted that the series "will explore the origins of the character that [John] Cena will play in the upcoming film." So, that makes it a prequel, right? Well, not necessarily, as Gunn would later drop some hints on Twitter that there will be more to the project than meets the eye.

"We're holding off announcing the timeline of the [Peacemaker] TV show until after [The Suicide Squad] movie," Gunn cryptically noted on Twitter, indicating that the show won't necessarily be the straightforward prequel many fans are anticipating.

It's possible the show will indeed head back in time to explore how Peacemaker ended up in the clutches of A.R.G.U.S. and Amanda Waller, while also dealing with what became of him after the events of The Suicide Squad. Either way, despite production beginning early next year, it definitely doesn't sound like the plan is for it to arrive before the movie does.

That's understandable, and from a business perspective, ensures that fans will actually want to follow Peacemaker's story after meeting him first as a member of Task Force X.
