7. Inside Out ($750 million)
Pixar's back! OK, so that's less of an exciting prospect given that they've failed to capitalise on their jaw-dropping run at the end of the noughties, but after 2014 lacked anything from the Emeryville maestros it's nice to see them brining two original ideas to cinemas. The Pixar brand is a strong one and all but guarantees a hit (even when they under-perform, they still get incredible numbers), meaning that, in a year dominated by big sequels, Inside Out has potential to sit near the top of the pack. How well Inside Out does will really depend on its quality. Because adult fans make up a good chunk of Pixar's audience, they can tip how successful a movie is (in box office terms Up did incredibly, while Cars 2 less so). And, with Pixar's most consistent director, Pete Docter (the guy behind Up and Monsters, Inc.), running the project, it looks set to be a corker. Pixar's other release, The Good Dinosaur, released in late November, will no doubt be a hit, but with a bloated autumn release schedule and worries over quality (the production has been so troubled it was pushed back from 2014) it's unlikely to be Top 10 big.
