Predicting The Rotten Tomatoes Scores Of 2026's Biggest Movies

10. Moana (52%)

Moana
Disney

The critical response to Disney's glut of live-action remakes over the past decade has been all over the map, though Moana is an especially interesting case given that the original animated classic was released less than a decade before the remake is due to drop.

As such it's even easier to dismiss this remake as "unnecessary", and it doesn't help that the first teaser trailer makes it look like another overly digital, plastic Disney redo that lacks the dazzling art direction of its inspiration.

Given that the original Moana scored a towering 95% from critics and this is expected to be a more-or-less shot-for-shot remake, it's tough to imagine it scoring terrible reviews, but also expect little enthusiasm from critics, who will surely question why Disney decided to reheat their own nachos quite so swiftly.

Couple this with the fact that filmmaker Thomas Kail (Grease Live!, Hamilton) has never directed a film of this scale before, and it's easy to see Moana 2026 getting thunderously mediocre notices.
