Box Office Prediction: $710 million Why It'll Be A Hit: Days of Future Past made a hugely impressive $747.9 million back in 2014, and though the lack of Hugh Jackman in Apocalypse means it likely won't return quite as impressive a figure, there's no reason to doubt Bryan Singer's potential to deliver a solidly entertaining film that connects with both casuals and fanboys alike. Why It Could Disappoint: The marketing so far just seems a bit...boring, like the film might be a decent three-star flick but won't do much outside of the ordinary supervillain nonsense we've seen before. In addition to the absence of not only Jackman but also Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, Apocalypse looks incredibly silly, and audiences may be fatigued by Jennifer Lawrence being needlessly pushed to the forefront of the marketing once again. The following weeks will also see it contending with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Warcraft, Finding Dory and Independence Day: Resurgence.
