8. Disappointing Live-Action Adaptations Of Animated Disney Films
Potentially Seen In: The Huntsman: Winters War, The Jungle Book, The Legend Of Tarzan, Alice Through The Looking Glass For whatever reason, live action fairy tale films have taken off in a big way in recent years. Partially spurned on by Disney seeking to find new ways to sell their old properties, other studios have followed suit, drawing inspiration from the classics. Unfortunately, to this point, none of these films have really been critical successes, but their box office receipts have been strong enough to ensure that this year will feature an unending barrage of such films. While there is certain to be some welcome trends in film this year, one that ushers in sequels to the disappointing Snow White And The Huntsman and the empty Alice In Wonderland isnt one to be overly excited about. The two original entires (if they can be called that) at least bear some hope. The Jungle Book looks visually phenomenal and director Jon Favreau is certainly capable. Likewise, Harry Potter director David Yates is behind The Legend Of Tarzan, which also boasts a formidable cast. Whether or not either of these movies is any good, if even one of these fairy tale films succeeds this year, at least this new gimmick wont be a total waste.
