Predicting The Next 10 Billion Dollar Movies

2. Fast And Furious 9

Many thought that the Fast and the Furious franchise would begin to run out of steam after Furious 7 earned an astounding $1.5bn at the box office in 2015 and while its true that this year's eighth installment has failed to match those numbers, a worldwide total of over $1.2bn is still an incredible achievement.

Since its reinvention as a blockbuster action series almost a decade ago, the cinematic exploits of Dominic Toretto and his 'family' have become absolute juggernauts at the international box office, with China in particular proving to be incredibly lucrative. In fact, the Fate of the Furious is the highest-grossing Western movie ever released in the country with almost $392m in the bank. The second highest-grossing Hollywood movie ever released in China? Furious 7.

As close to a sure thing as you can get at the box office these days, the Fast and Furious series has become one of the most popular franchises on the planet, with the overseas numbers for each entry in particular showing huge growth. With Vin Diesel claiming the saga will end after the tenth (!!!) movie, both parts 9 and 10 are virtual guarantees to earn at least a billion dollars apiece.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
