Critical Consensus: "Sausauge Party brings an abundance of R-rated laughs and surprising level of thoughtfulness, but a hit-and-miss gag rate prevents it from being an unqualified success."

Early reviews from SXSW have broadly praised Sausage Party as an offensive and surprisingly clever adult animation (holding a perfect 100% score after just 7 reviews), but there's no doubt that the consensus will sink like a stone once more conservative critics get their mitts on it.

A film this willfully offensive (going by SXSW reports) is pretty much tailor-made to divide, and so it's hard to imagine Seth Rogen and co. much caring about the critical reception as long as the movie makes money (which it unquestionably will).
