8. Batman & Robin
Like in Batman Forever, Batman’s introduction is the first scene in the movie - a recreation of the same entrance with Batman getting his suit and gadgets ready for the upcoming mission with the biggest difference being that Robin is also suiting up. It is a grand unveiling of them as the dynamic duo. A great build-up until we get a shot of them standing to each other in front of the new Batmobile as the music crescendos.
The downside is that when we get the shots of the duo suiting up piece by piece; it lingers distractingly on the crotch and butt parts of the costume with an intentional bounce. While a crotch shot was also present in Batman Forever, it went by quickly. Now there are superhero crotches, and with the added butt shots, we need to go through with it twice in a raw, awkwardly getting us off the moment.
After the dramatic music settles and it’s time for the heroes to board their vehicles, it goes to tongue-in-cheek territories of jokes with Robin remarking that “Chicks dig the car.” and Batman replying, “This is why Superman works alone.” This part may not be of everyone’s taste, but at least for the moment where the movie is not yet bombarded with terrible jokes, it is a sight of Batman and Robin’s friendship and a sign that they both enjoy the job.
