5. Kraven The Hunter

Kraven the Hunter may just be one of Spider-Man's greatest villains, which is why it's a little disappointing to hear that he'll be the focus of one of Sony's spin-offs and not, as fans will have inevitably hoped, in a film alongside Tom Holland in the MCU.

It's not all bad though. Writer Richard Wenk has signposted Kraven's Last Hunt as a key inspiration behind his script, and Training Day director Antoine Fuqua has been earmarked to helm the feature too. Though, just how they'll do Last Hunt without Spider-Man is anyone's guess...

Let's not beat around the bush: Kraven should and probably will appear in a proper Spider-Man film as a villain in the near future, and the fact that Sony are looking at making individual films surrounding Spidey's villains points towards an inherent lack of understanding as to why they resonate so much, but there is a way of making Kraven work without the web-slinger. A less compelling one - sure - but a way all the same.
