Ranking January 2018's Movies From Worst To Best
8. Last Flag Flying
RottenTomatoes Score: 74% (7.0/10)
Box Office: Though Richard Linklater's new dramatic comedy clearly didn't cost much, there's no way it's got Bryan Cranston, Steve Carell and Laurence Fishburne's salaries covered when struggling to crack $1 million worldwide. What a shame.
Verdict: While far from Linklater's greatest efforts, Last Flag Flying benefits from the excellent performances of its central trio, creating a unique spin on the typical road movie formula.
Hilarious and emotionally resonant, this spiritual successor to Hal Ashby's classic 1973 drama The Last Detail will satisfy fans while also standing tall on its own merits. Linklater is capable of better, but even a merely good effort from the filmmaker is totally worth watching.
