Ranking January 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

16. Glass

Glass Bruce Willis
Universal

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 36% (5.1/10)

Box Office: Currently the highest-grossing film of 2019 by a considerable margin, M. Night Shyamalan's Split sequel fended off polarised reviews and has already made $160+ million on a mere $20 million budget.

Though the mixed response did cause Glass to come in slightly below industry expectations, it's still a terrific result in any event, even if it might end up falling a touch short of Split's $278.5 million final total.

Say what you want about the movie, but Shyamalan shouldn't have much trouble getting his next mid-budget pitch greenlit.

Verdict: An ambitious but disappointing conclusion to Shyamalan's Unbreakable trilogy, Glass benefits from a fantastic James McAvoy performance, but over-encumbers itself with too many of the classic Shyamalan-isms that have derailed so many of his promising prior films.

The twists are a mixed bag, Bruce Willis is given depressingly little to do, Samuel L. Jackson spends too much of the movie off-screen, and that ending is just tailor-made to piss people off.

It has its defenders, sure, but few are likely to view Glass as some misunderstood classic in the years to come.
