Ranking July 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best

14. Nerve

Ghostbusters Jason Bourne Ice Age
Lionsgate

RottenTomatoes Score: 56% (5.6/10)

Box Office: Nerve opened firmly amid expectations and has very nearly reaped back its $20 million price tag already. It won't be a monster hit but it'll do just fine overall.

Verdict: A mostly successful adaptation of Jeanne Ryan's 2012 novel, Nerve is propelled forward by the strong chemistry between Emma Roberts and Dave Franco, as well as some terrific cinematography and stylish direction.

Sure, the premise sounds half like the technophobic thrillers that became popular in the early 2000s, but it's surprisingly engrossing if you can get on-board with the silliness, and has something to say about online anonymity without getting too preachy. Not perfect, but worth checking out on Netflix at the very least.
