Ranking June 2017's Movies From Worst To Best
3. Okja
RottenTomatoes Score: 84% (7.5/10)
Box Office: Bong Joon-ho's $50 million action adventure flick was part-funded by the streaming giant, and considering their enormous commitment to bankrolling left-field projects, it's clear they see major value in paying for a movie like this. Box office needn't be a concern, even though it did have a limited worldwide theatrical release, which should be good for some extra change.
Verdict: While some might view its rallying against the meat trade as heavy-handed, Okja is another fascinating one-of-a-kind from Joon-ho, driven forward by a charming titular CGI creature, a remarkable lead performance from Ahn Seo-hyun, and memorable supporting work by Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano.
Simply, if you're a fan of the director's prior work, namely Snowpiercer, this is a must-see, and is sure to be one of the year's most fiercely singular efforts.
