Ranking June 2018's Movies From Worst To Best

Box Office: Produced for a sensible $10 million, this middle-aged rom-com proved the viability of that underserved demographic by opening above expectations, and grossing almost $75 million to date.

Given that many older audiences will inevitably wait for the movie to hit home video, this is a terrific success already.

Verdict: It's easy to sneer at a movie with a premise this low-effort - a group of older women revitalise their sex lives after reading Fifty Shades of Grey - but honestly, it's not that bad at all.

Thanks largely to the efforts of the talented cast, Book Club is inoffensive at worst yet occasionally genuinely quite funny. Fifty Shades thankfully isn't a talking point for most of the movie, and is simply the primer to kick-off the thoroughly silly relationship shenanigans that follow.

This could've been utterly insufferable, so the fact it's "OK" basically counts as a win.
