Ranking March 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

13. The Highwaymen

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 51% (5.83/10)

Box Office: Direct to Netflix.

Verdict: Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson are effortlessly engaging in this period crime drama as the two Texas Rangers who helped track and kill famous outlaws Bonnie and Clyde.

Shifting the perspective away from the iconic duo and instead depicting them at a fair distance, The Highwaymen delivers a solid character drama which explores society's mythic idolatry of Bonnie and Clyde.

John Lee Hancock's (The Blind Side, Saving Mr. Banks) direction is never more than workmanlike, but between the sharp cinematography (it looks great in 4K HDR) and the two central performances, it does just enough to intrigue.

With a stronger script and direction this tale could've been a serious awards player, but instead it's a slow, moody movie with decent period detail and better acting than it probably deserves.
