Ranking November 2015’s Movies From Worst To Best

8. Trumbo

RottenTomatoes Score: 71% (6.6/10) Box Office: This $15 million niche awards drama has unsurprisingly been a box office dud, pulling in just $652,270 to date, and unlikely to do much more. Even with home video sales, this one's pretty much a bust, further compounded by its likely lack of awards success. Verdict: If it doesn't manage to live up to the considerable promise of casting Bryan Cranston to play infamously blacklisted Hollywood screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, this inside drama is still an entertaining biopic, albeit one that feels too template-driven to truly satisfy. Cranston gives a crackerjack performance that would probably be an Oscar front-runner were the film better overall, but Jay Roach's strangely TV-like direction makes the film feel much smaller than it should, and the storytelling often comes off as trite and predictable rather than refreshingly witty like the man himself.
