Ranking November 2015’s Movies From Worst To Best

7. The Danish Girl

RottenTomatoes Score: 73% (6.6/10) Box Office: The $15 million-budgeted drama is projected to make $189,000 in its first weekend, which for a mere four-screen release is more impressive than it looks, but as the film rolls out a much wider release throughout December, it'll quickly become a profitable minor hit, no question. Verdict: Like Trumbo, this is another instance of an actor whose astonishing performance wildly outdoes the material itself. Tom Hooper's direction feels strangely flat and coldly detached, while the script is merely satisfactory considering how important and current the subject matter is, yet even those hurdles can't stop Eddie Redmayne from giving an Oscar-worthy performance, nor Alicia Vikander from providing stellar support. The film is certainly a little underwhelming overall, but the performances deliver even when the rest of the movie doesn't sufficiently rouse the heart and mind.
