Whatever direction a new film would take Legolas in, there's certain qualities he has to possess: Grace, agility, nobility, and a weirdly youthful face so's that you can't tell his age.
Simu Liu fits these bills and then some.
The up and comer who's next job will be facing off against the Mandarin as Shang-Chi, Liu has a wealth of experience as a professional stunt performer. So rest assured he'd handle running up and down massive elephants with ease.
He has both dramatic and comedic credits, having had small roles in shows like Orphan Black and Kim's convenience. So whatever the direction, whether fun, loyal Legolas from LOTR is on the table, or it's going to be slightly creepy, Matrix Legolas from the Hobbit, Simu can handle it. Fingers crossed it's not the Hobbit version, though.
Best of all? It's impossible to guess Liu's age. Despite having played mature authority figures, this man has more youthful vibrancy than SpongeBob SquarePants eating a bag of skittles. No need for a bucket of concealer or some post production trickery here. There's not a wrinkle in sight. He could play ol' Leggy for YEARS to come.
