8. Remus Lupin – Martin Freeman
Remus Lupin is one of the most beloved characters in the wizarding world, and he’s an easy character to feel sorry for due to his poor finances and his struggles with lycanthrope.
Fans of Sherlock will know Martin Freeman is brilliant in the role of John Watson. His acting carries a certain amount of weariness that would be ideal for the character of Lupin, and the same can be said of his performance in The Office as the likeable but often agitated Tim Canterbury.
Martin also injects a natural warmth into many of his roles, and given Lupin is one of Harry’s father-figures, this trait would be useful. His performance as Bilbo Baggins is a good example of this natural warmth, but it can also be seen in Sherlock as well.
Whilst Lupin is slightly younger than Martin, an older actor would be ideal given Lupin’s weary and exhausted exterior.
