Recasting X-Men: 14 Actors Who Need To Replace Singer's Mutants

1. Jeremy Irons - Magneto

With neither a near-80-year-old Ian McKellen nor an early-40s Michael Fassbender able to convincingly play a mid-60s Magneto in the next X-Men movie, a recast really feels like the best strategy moving forward, short of not including him in the movie at all.

Assuming he's not kept busy with duties as Alfred Pennyworth, Jeremy Irons would be a fantastic choice: he's age-appropriate (he'll be about 70 by the time shooting starts, but looks a few years younger), he's one of the best actors alive, and he's capable of both grand villainy and grand tenderness.

His look also fits fairly well between Fassbender and McKellen, so the switch between actors wouldn't seem too jarring, even if his age basically prevents him from being anything more than a short-term Magneto for a few movies.

What do you make of these casting picks? Got any of your own? Shout it all out in the comments!
