Russian Roulette: The Movie gets trailer
Actually the official title of the film starring Eva Mendes is called Live! Is this a warning to us for how far reality t.v. could go in the future or is it a lame idea for a silly movie?
Derren Brown who is part illusionist/part hypnotist and other 'trick of the mind' antics who once shocked this country and gave us some damn exciting television when he played Russian roulette live on T.V in 2003. Of course he didn't do it for real but I swear to God that when I was watching him doing it after a long day lying on my bed with my T.V. on, I really did think he was going to kill himself. There's one moment during the illusion where I thought he had messed it up and I was sure he was a goner. In my memory, it plays like the most exciting and gripping ten minutes of T.V. I think I have ever witnessed in my life and Brown played it so well and he deserved the several million viewers he reached out to, who all no doubt had the curiosity factor of seeing a guy blow his brains out on live t.v. In October 2003, reality television and real life drama met and I'm really surprised it hasn't been done again (or if it has, it wasn't high profile enough for me to hear about it). Here it is for you guys below... Intense huh? So that brings me to the point of this post and it's all because of a fictional movie titled Live! starring Eva Mendes for writer/director Bill Guttentag. The movie which follows a mockumentary style follows Mendes as an ambitious television network executive who decides to produce a t.v. show where contestants will play Russian roulette on t.v. LIVE and for real. She thinks it will be the most watched television program of all time and she would probably be right. The movie is social jab at all those reality t.v. programs which rely on real life human emotion and drama to win audience figures such as X-Factor and Big Brother and as those programs are starting to get stale, it's not all that hard to imagine something like this ever taking place is it? I mean I don't think it ever will, not on a major network anyway. But it's not beyond the realms of possibility for it to take place over the web. Here is the trailer for Live! Would you watch this type of program if it were real? LineUploaded by IMLX Eva Mendes looks badly mis-cast in the movie and the story before they get to the finale looks like a bit of bore but it's interesting nevertheless. The movie is still looking for a distributor, so we'll keep ya informed if this one gets picked up. source - worst previews
