Scream VI Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. The Great Cast Chemistry

Even when it doesn't quite work, Scream VI at least follows its predecessor's lead by again boasting a strong ensemble cast of likeable characters.

Siblings Tara (Jenna Ortega) and Sam (Melissa Barrera) are of course the focus once more, and combined with other siblings Chad (Mason Gooding) and Mindy (Jasmin Savoy Brown), form an affectingly trauma-bonded quartet who call themselves the "Core Four."

Elsewhere Courteney Cox gets some of her stronger recent dramatic material as a still-grieving Gale, while it's undeniably great to see Hayden Panettiere back in the role of Kirby, and Dermot Mulroney provides solid support as Wayne Bailey, the lead detective investigating the killings.

It's certainly a film that doesn't want for the enthusiasm of its cast, who bring a lot of energy, humour, and emotion to the forefront throughout.
