Shang-Chi: Every Main Character Ranked From Worst To Best

1. Wenwu

Shang-Chi falls into the classic superhero movie trap of crafting a villain who ends up being more compelling than the hero.

Wenwu is by far the best character in the film and it's not really particularly close. For starters, he's got one hell of a compelling origin story, granted effective immortality by the Ten Rings, making him one-thousand years old when the present-day story kicks off.

He's a conqueror who's lived more than 10 lifetimes, and despite being a sure tyrant, all it took was the heart of one woman, Li, to tame him and bring him back down to Earth.

There's a sure relatability to Wenwu's mission throughout the film, manipulated into trying to rescue who he believes to be his imprisoned wife, but what would any of it mean without the exemplary work of Tony Leung in front of the camera?

Leung, an acting powerhouse that the MCU is enormously lucky to have, brings real grit and emotional weight to a tricky character, while simultaneously portraying him as a world-owning badass who makes mere mortals wet themselves in his mere presence.

Wenwu easily enters the ranks of the MCU's best and most memorable villains, and Leung's performance too places among the franchise's best.
