Shazam!: 7 Reveals From The New Teaser

The most wonderful aspect of this new teaser is how blatantly it is embracing a goofier, more fun-loving tone than anything audiences have seen from the DCEU thus far.

It's no secret that the franchise has struggled with tone over the years. Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman were both criticized for being too dark and dour, which led to WB and DC panicking and attempting to insert ill-fitting jokes and humor into Suicide Squad at the last minute. Then came Wonder Woman, which seemed to strike a pretty perfect balance, only for its success to then make WB and DC nervous about Justice League's comparably darker tone, and once again force reshoots to try and lighten the tone.

Luckily, Shazam! does not look to be having any of these issues. This teaser is loving embracing its own irreverent tone in a way that feels confident and well thought-out. From the gut-busting, rooted-in-character jokes to the tagline itself poking fun at the iconic line from The Dark Knight, this teaser sells Shazam! as DC's Deadpool in a lot of ways and makes it look like a hell-of-a-lot-of-fun in the process.
