20 INSANE Recent Horror Movie Scenes NOBODY Saw Coming

With respect to Markiplier's new horror film Iron Lung, we're not so much talking about a single scene as the entire movie in every fiber of its being.

For starters, there's the fact that Markiplier decided to write, direct, and star in the adaptation of David Szymanski's submarine sim video game only after Szymanski joked that Markiplier would do it.

A little less than three years later, the YouTuber-turned-filmmaker finally released the product of his efforts, one which was entirely self-funded with $3 million of his own money.

And while many assumed that Iron Lung would get an extremely limited theatrical release before being dumped on streaming, fan enthusiasm contributed to it getting a wide release globally, where to date it's grossed roughly $40 million worldwide - a frankly shocking return-on-investment for such a niche video game adaptation.

It's all the more impressive when you consider that Markiplier's film is, for reasons only he will ever know, an endurance-testing 125-minute slog that could've easily been cut down to a tight 80-or-so.

Every single thing about this film defies conventional categorisation, but it's tough not to respect the guy for making it all happen.
