10. It Is A Self-Contained Story

After the one-two narrative punch that was Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, it's refreshing to see Skyfall return to simplicity, focusing largely on a self-contained narrative arc that leaves no strands flailing in the air. While Quantum tied up the loose ends of Royale - much the chagrin of many wanting a more focused, less vague film - Skyfall makes little reference to the last two films, save for one line nodding to Vesper Lynd's transformative effect on Bond. Simply, what you see is what you get; Bond starts off in a mission, he "dies", is resurrected, fights the bad guy, kills the bad guy, deals with some emotional stuff, and there isn't really any revenge left to reap once it's all said and done.
