Skyscraper Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs

4. Neve Campbell Is Disappointingly Wasted

Neve Campbell recently claimed that she stepped away from Hollywood post-Scream because she wasn't offered any interesting scripts, so there was at least a mild hope here that she'd get something interesting to do as Will Sawyer's (Johnson) wife Sarah.

Sadly that's not really the case at all, and it's clearly just a paycheck role for the actress. Her performance is absolutely fine, but she doesn't do much more than play the wife and protective mother role, spending decent chunks of the movie totally off-screen while The Rock's doing his far more exciting thing.

She's not entirely a helpless damsel-in-distress, but she also doesn't have a ton of her own agency and is just kinda...there. Campbell sells the material well enough, but it's a shame she doesn't have more to do.
