Spectre: 10 Awesome Things We Learned About Bond 24
2. Bond Girls And Henchmen Are Typical
After the franchise eschewed much-loved convention for the first half of his tenure, Daniel Craig is getting more of a classical Bond experience now, with hulking henchmen and Bond girls galore. Dave Bautista has been linked to Spectre for a long time (who can blame them - after Guardians Of The Galaxy everyone wants a piece of the wrestler-cum-actor), so his announcement as Mr Hinx, obviously a henchman in the vein of Oddjob or Jaws (hopefully without tacked on romance), wasn't that surprising. Although coupled with the Bond girls, the casting hints more at the style of the film. Blue Is The Warmest Color break-out Léa Seydoux and Italian stalwart Monica Bellucci will be getting it on with Daniel Craig at some point in Spectre. The duo of clearly different women is a well-worn Bond trope that is finally being returned to (Skyfall doesn't count when one's Moneypenny) - based off previous experience, the obvious prediction would be that one (Bellucci) is going to be the dangerous turncoat and the other (Seydoux) one who sticks around for some pre-credits boning. All of this suggests a very formula-eyed approach to the movie, although who knows if it's going to be adhered to or if convention will be busted open.
