Spectre: 10 Awesome Things We Learned About Bond 24

3. Is Andrew Scott The Bad Guy?

A couple of days ago, the story broke that Andrew Scott, who shot to fame for his distinctly new take on Moriarty in Sherlock, would be playing "the villain" of Bond 24. Today's announcement, however, appears to be going against that, with the actor revealed to be playing Denby, a new member of MI6's "Whitehall family". Were the reports wrong, assuming something untrue based off his previous roles, or is this a devious piece of misdirection? After all, this wouldn't be the first time in Bond where a good guy has wound up being bad, and with the MI6 roster already pretty full (Ralph Fiennes as M, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw as Q and Rory Kinnear as Tanner are all returning) there needs to be something more to this new character. After a bit of mumbling with Mendes, Scott did stand on the other side of the stage from the rest of his supposed MI6 cohorts, read by some as a not-so-subtle hint at character allegiances, although it's probably just a nice way to frame the old and new cast. At the very least it allows plenty of opportunity for intense speculation in the coming months.
