3. The Thunderball-Esque Funeral

Another SPECTRE focused Bond film - Thunderball - opens with a funeral, in which Bond discovers that a prominent SPECTRE agent (Number 6) isn't actually dead and is disguised as his own widow. He watches from the outskirts before making his move. There's definitely the same feel here, with the trailer setting up a sequence in which Bond discovers an intriguing intruder at the funeral and gives chase. They'll probably draw the line at a drag fight with the Not Widow, but it's hard to ignore the allusion to Thunderball's story. That will be especially true if this is how he gets his hands on the SPECTRE ring, which seems to fit the suggested timeline. Could it be a hint that Franz Not Blofeld turns up at his father's memorial service after disappearing for a long time? Or will Bond merely rumble one of his inquisitive underlings?
