In both the Raimi and Webb films, Peter Parker starts off as a schoolboy, but graduates pretty quickly (in Spider-Man and then at the outset of The Amazing Spider-Man 2). Both are more interested in his life as a superhero, juggling his job at the Daily Bugle than spending too much time with him doing homework.

In Homecoming

The biggest difference - according to Kevin Feige - in the MCU's Spider-Man movies is that Peter is a schoolboy as a fundamental part of his story. His attempts to balance schoolwork and heroism is the driving conflict in the film, and John Hughes' films are being used as a point of inspiration precisely because they deal so well with kids.

Going forward, the suggestion is that we'll also see multiple films set while he's still at school, with the Harry Potter model being suggested as another inspiration. Either way, don't expect a speedy graduation to get school out of the way: he's a schoolboy hero as a matter of importance.
