Spider-Man: Homecoming - 26 New Things We Just Learned
23. Spidey Has His Own AI
Iron Man's relationship with JARVIS was arguably always better than his dynamic with Pepper Potts (mostly because he was written better), and now it looks like Spidey will be able to enjoy something similar with his own AI built in to the suit Tony Stark made for him.
On the set visits, IGN learned about the AI voice "inside" the web-slinger's head, which will initially come as a surprise to him and will be played for comedy value:
"He’s not used to working with an artificial intelligence the way Tony Stark is, so when Peter asks for directions on how to get somewhere, for example, the AI responds by wanting to know if he’ll be driving, or walking."
Details suggest Tony Stark has built in a "Training Wheels' protocol to limit Spidey's power-set but once he gets around it, he discovers the AI:
“Probably most notably, it starts talking to him, and he goes, ‘Oh, this is weird.’ And he starts asking it stuff, but he’s not super slick or Tony Stark smart, who invented the OS and did all this. He’s a kid. So he’s like, ‘Um, how do I get to where that thing is?’ And it’s like, ‘Um, I don’t know. Pretty much drive? How are you going to get there?’ And he’s like, ‘Um, if I didn’t have a car, let’s just say, how would I get there?’ And it’s like, ‘Well, if you walk…’ And he’s like, ‘No, OK, alright… I guess just give me directions and I’ll figure out the HOW I’m getting there.’”
