Spider-Man: Homecoming - 45 Easter Eggs & References You Probably Missed

27. The Origin/Backstory Hints

Uncle Ben Dead
Sony Pictures

Mercifully, the film doesn't go into either the history of Uncle Ben's murder or Peter Parker's transformation into Spider-Man, but it does cleverly mention both of them in a round about way.

As Ned asks Peter a million questions about being Spider-Man, they share a brief conversation about him being bitten by a spider. That's it - no more detail than that, which is great because it absolutely wasn't needed.

And as for Uncle Ben, the only allusion to him is Peter mentioning "everything that she's been through" in reference to Aunt May. Rather than being Peter's mentor, Ben is very much framed as May's ghost, which changes the dynamic completely.
