Spider-Man Movies: 7 Perfect Performances & 7 That Sucked

6. Chris Zylka - Flash Thompson

Flash Thompson
Sony Pictures

You can see the direction Marc Webb was trying to go with his Flash Thompson, but it just didn't do anyone involved any justice. This Flash was clearly supposed to be an empty-headed, tight-shirted jock - the antithesis of Peter and, inevitably, a bully designed to show what Peter SHOULDN'T become.

To that end, it works, but Chris Zylka is never given enough to do to really offer any nuance to the performance (unlike Tony Revolori's performance as the MCU's Flash). There's a slight hint of Flash's behaviour being the product of something tragic (in the wake of Uncle Ben's death), but model-turned-actor Zylka's performance doesn't really sell it enough.

Ultimately, he's just another forgettable part of a forgettable series.
