Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer - 10 Biggest Takeaways

6. The Green Goblin

Historically, the Spider-Man movies throughout the last 20 years have had varied success with the caliber of their villains. Sam Raimi’s first two movies enjoyed excellent antagonists, while the third was overstuffed with poorly developed villains. The Amazing Spider-Man franchise’s bad guys were hit or miss, while so far, the MCU’s villains in the Vulture and Mysterio have been excellent.

Marvel Studios will be dipping into each franchise for its villains in No Way Home in the shape of Doc Ock and Electro. However, these are only the ones that we know about so far.

One scene in the trailer suggests that none other than the Green Goblin could be making an appearance, as one of his pumpkin bombs is set off to the background of a snarling laugh, unmistakably that of Willem Dafoe’s Norman Osborn.

By the end of Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie, Norman had died, though his memory lived on in his son. Harry ultimately bit the dust during the battle with the Sandman and Venom in the third movie of the trilogy, however Dane DeHaan’s Harry Osborn survived The Amazing Spider-Man 2. The multiverse is open enough that any version of the villain could be brought back, but it seems certain that at least one Green Goblin will show up.
