4. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Come The Amazing Spider-Man 2, however, and all attempts to ape Christopher Nolans Dark Knight trilogy had gone out the window. In a change akin to the gothic Batman Returns being followed up with the campy Batman Forever, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was almost day-glo bright and felt more orientated towards younger audiences. Still, though the film was apparently bad enough to kill off that nascent series before it had really got started, the suit Spider-Man sports in the movie is a gorgeous thing. Gone is the rubbery, washed-out look to be replaced by a bright pinkish-red silky material. The webbing is now once again embossed, though not to the extent of the Raimi suit, which means it finds a happy medium between the two costumes we had already seen. Once again, the standout feature is the eyes which are now large and gleaming white, in line with the look of Todd McFarlanes Spidey and the Ultimate Spider-Man comics, the Amazing Spider-Man films main inspiration in general. Sure, it is a sharp change of direction for the style of the character and it no longer looks homemade but this costume is undeniably the glossiest, most stylish Spidey suit weve seen so far.
