6. Captain's Log: With The Door Wide Open

On the eve of Universal Peace Captain Kirk had to leave the bloody door open to his quarters as he recorded his one and only hate-filled captain's log. Sure, he had a hefty dose of Romulan ale, a massive headache, but why the heck would he leave his door wide open for anyone walking by to hear his rabid opinion on the Klingons? Add to it the fact if he hadn't been overheard and recorded by Lt. Valeris, then that's one key piece of evidence that would have been left out of his own trial on Kronos. Not to mention it was that dialogue that almost paved the way for ruining the first chance for peace between the Klingons and the Federation. Let's face it, Kirk was in a very careless mode considering he had just been briefed by his best friend on the importance of these peace talks not even a day prior to this screw-up. Not one of his brighter moments, but hey, he not only made up for it all by the end of Star Trek VI, he still got to kick some Klingon ass in the process, one final time.
