7. Star Trek Generations (1994)

After the success of the six films with the Original Series cast, it came time to pass the torch on to the cast of The Next Generation, which had just recently finished up their run on television. But how best to do so? Easy! Have Kirk and Picard fighting evil, side by side. The story begins in 2293, when three of the original Enterprise crew (Kirk, Chekov, and Scotty) are attending the maiden voyage of the Enterprise-B. Unfortunately, they receive a distress call from two ships nearby that are being ravaged by a mysterious energy ribbon. In the process of rescuing the survivors, the Enterprise-B sustains some damage, including a hull breach in the area where Kirk was. He is presumed dead. Fast forward 78 years, and the Enterprise-D encounters the same ribbon. They learn it is called "The Nexus" and upon entering it, it creates a world that provides whatever you desire, and will keep doing so as long as you remain in it. Kirk is inside it, and must join Picard in trying to stop a man who is willing to destroy an entire solar system in order to enter it once more.
The Good: Seeing the two captains side-by-side is a treat, and Malcom McDowell makes one of the best villains Star Trek has ever seen.
The Bad: Okay, so the plot is pretty ridiculous.
The Ugly: Shatner doesn't really put in a good performance, seemingly relying on nostalgia more than good acting.
